Khusbu Oli bags Asia’s one of the biggest award



Asian Football Confederation Dream Asia Award 2018

Malaysia – Khusbu Oli, presented with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Dream Asia Awards 2017 today in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The award ceremony took place in conjunction with the AFC – Social Responsibility Conference 2018.

The annual AFC Dream Asia Awards are presented in three categories – corporate, non-governmental organisation (NGO) and individual – and they recognise and honour those who have shown exemplary commitment towards social development

The award for The AFC Dream Asia Award for Individual Category was awarded to Khusbu Oli, President of Shelter Ashraya Nepal for her exemplary commitment towards society. Khusbu Oli was nominated from All Nepal Football Association to AFC.The awards were handed to the winners by Chairman of the AFC Social Responsibility Committee, Ahmed Eid S. Al Harbi.

The AFC takes nomination from the entire Asia and the candidate with the most remarkable contribution is selected by AFC under tough competition. Khusbu Oli is the only person from Nepal to have recived this award.

Khusbu was honored with the award and the cash prize of USD 10000, for the work she does in three major sector :

Model Village ( Developing self reliant village)

The model village program (Namuna Gaau) is a project designed for sustainable development in village across Nepal. Their work is aligned with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Since then, we have focused on areas in which to begin a series of changes that starts from basic needs and then leads to a state of true empowerment. Our vision is to teach villagers the skills they need to live in communities that are prosperous and self-reliant. Currently she is developing 5 model villages in the eastern side of Nepal.

The Model Village development plan will help alleviate the difficulties faced by the poor communities by supporting them to improve their lives by empowering the whole community utilizing their skills and expertise through modern agriculture and income generation program.

Women Empowerment

Shelter believes all women deserve the opportunity to live free from poverty. Collaborating with global partners, we fund microloans, training and services that enable women to start businesses, support their families and strengthen their communities.

Currently 350 women are enrolled in training school,508 registered in the program and by 2018,1200 women will be the member and will have access to trainings and they are also supported to develop as entrepreneurs and give them sustainable income and respect in the society.

Empower through sports (Rehabilitation through sports)

Shelter runs a program empowerment through sports (football ) where more than 1000 street connected, underprivileged and orphan children get access to play and learn through football. It aims to establish football academy and develop it as a safe space fpr boys and girls.

Recently Shelter took a national team of street children to participate in Street Child World Cup 2018.It’s also a powerful tool that breaks down all the barriers and helps children feel good about them, both physically and mentally.

Sport is quite beneficial for children, they develop physical skills, exercise, make new friends, learn about play fair, improve self-esteem learn values etc. therefore, Shelter rehabilitate children through its major tool that is Sports. Children play different games like football, badminton, carom, Ludo, volley ball, table te Shelter also has a residential rehabilitation home for street connected children.

Along with the United Nations High commissioner for Malysia and Secretary general of International federation of CP Football , khusbu Oli was invited as the speaker and panelist to speak on Social inclusion and Health at the AFC social Responsibilty Confrence 2018.
